What ChamaClub does
What is ChamaClub?
ChamaClub is software for shared chama records, payment evidence, loans, investments, meetings and votes. It is not a bank, SACCO, lender, payment provider, fund custodian, fiduciary, or adviser, and it does not hold or move group funds.
How do I create or join a chama?
A creator enters the chama name, membership type, contribution frequency and amount. Members can join an invite-only chama with its code. For an open chama, a person applies with the details requested by that group and waits for authorized members to review the application.
Contributions
Payment evidence and confirmation
Does ChamaClub collect contributions?
No. Members pay outside the app using collection details set by their chama. There is no STK Push in the current app. After paying, a member submits the M-Pesa confirmation as evidence.
When does a contribution change the balance?
A submitted confirmation creates a pending claim. An authorized treasurer reviews the evidence, matches or assigns the deposit and confirms it. Only then does the record change the balance. This is not automatic reconciliation.
Does ChamaClub need SMS permission?
No. Android SMS access is optional. You can paste the full M-Pesa confirmation instead. On an authorized official's device, recognized incoming confirmations may be parsed into the chama deposit inbox when permission is enabled.
Loans and investments
Requests, guarantors and votes
How does a loan request work?
The member selects a chama loan product, amount, period and required guarantors. The app checks recorded savings limits, product terms and available group cash. Submitting opens a member vote; it is not an instant payout and ChamaClub does not lend the money.
What does selecting a guarantor mean?
It records the members chosen under the chama constitution. ChamaClub does not create or enforce a guarantee. The borrower, guarantors and chama should use their own clear agreement and understand what happens after default.
How are investments handled?
A member proposes a vehicle and amount no higher than the group's recorded available funds. That opens a vote. A passed vote creates the holding and adjusts the recorded available and locked funds. The chama carries out the investment through its own officials and provider outside ChamaClub.
Governance and security
Meetings, votes, penalties and accounts
What can members do with meetings and votes?
Members can view the next meeting, RSVP and vote yes, no or abstain once on each open decision. Loans, investments, leadership and member exits can use vote records. The chama remains responsible for quorum, authority and acting on the result.
Who sets and enforces penalties?
An official proposes a penalty rule or member penalty and the group votes on it. A passed vote applies the record. ChamaClub displays the group record but does not collect or enforce a penalty. Members should use the chama's dispute process for an incorrect item.
How does ChamaClub protect account access?
The service uses Firebase account identity and role-based group access. An optional app lock can use the biometric, PIN, pattern or password already on the device. ChamaClub does not receive that biometric or credential. Production OTP is not yet available.
What do chama roles and permissions control?
Roles control which group records a person can view or change. Members can contribute, request loans, make proposals and vote. Authorized officials can work with deposit evidence and submit configuration or penalty proposals. Join request access follows the chama approval policy. A role does not let an official bypass a required group vote.
How is member data handled and protected?
ChamaClub limits group records by membership and role and stores hosted account, database and file records with Firebase services. Join application ID photos are limited to the applicant and authorized reviewers. The optional app lock protects local access. Members and officials should use personal information only for chama work and avoid copying sensitive records into chats.
How do I delete my account?
Email support@chamaclub.com and complete verification. Deletion ends app access. Some shared transaction and audit records may remain for legal duties, fraud prevention, disputes or financial accountability.
